A few words on the September 2020 preview build

So I've played the some of the alpha and this months preview build and not much has changed. Yes your not constantly looking over your shoulder expecting to be ganked like the alpha was, and now there are quests. But the quest system if you dont flag for PVP is a grind fest.

The faction rewards are way out of my reach at level 22 playing casually. You need to reach level 20  before you can buy anything from the faction then the free first tier are consumables. To access the armour there is a pay wall of 1000 faction coins. 

The non PVP faction quests only seem to pay out 40 - 60 faction coins where the PVP quests pay out 400 - 600 faction coins. I want to enjoy the game not be worrying about being ganked while doing a PVP quest that just involves going to mob infested ruined temple to collect a few items.

SwarmLake Speedrun using LiveSplit and AutoSplit

SwarmLake is a  first-person shooter ballet about fighting a record-breaking swarm. Released on 12th March 2018 it has had various updates made by the single person team behind it. https://store.steampowered.com/app/793350/

As well as recording or streaming a run there are a couple of programs to make the logging your times easier. One is LiveSplit which has the timer and the other is Auto-Split which I have been using to automate the Splits.

How I have it set up

In Livespit I made four Splits one at each of the major milestones in game, 1000 Gems, 2500 Gems, 5000 Gems and 10000 Gems these scores are shown by the screen changing colour and the game play slowing down. I'm using the detailed timer and I'm comparing to my last run.

In settings make your hotkeys for start and reset and turn on global keys so that you can control Live split from in game.

I'm using the Milestone effect to trigger a split using the Histogram comparison method in Auto-Split, this is set to 0.50 and the region set to full screen. This is not required you can just manual press your Start/Split hotkey

To take the screenshots for the comparison run a demo from the in game leaderboard and take screen shots with the screenshot button in Auto-Split. This will name them correctly for the Splits.

Using this method I just start a game then when I jump for the first time I press the Livesplit Start hotkey, and let Auto-split trigger the split hotkey in Livesplit which starts the next segment.

The only down side of this technique seems to be if your run ends early and you need to reset Livesplit you have to manually start Auto-split every time, but if you finish the run Auto-split can be set it to  loops the split images so your all set for the next attempt.
